I have completed a bachelor's degree in accounting. I have 6 years experience in the same position and have Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) with the tasks, duties and responsibilities focusing on:

• Plans, organizes, and conducts financial, operational, and compliance audits of facilities, company operations, and hospital Medicare cost reports.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and performs analytical procedures using available resources to determine potential problem areas to be reviewed during audits. • Appraises the effectiveness of company policies and procedures to ensure financial data is accurately stated to ensure the integrity of financial data reported on facility cost reports, and the effectiveness of processes employed by facilities, district, regional, and corporate office management to ensure the accuracy of data reported on facility cost reports.
• Oversees the completion of audit procedures performed by assigned audit staff. Conducts detailed reviews of other staff members' audit work as appropriate.
• Meets with and/or communicates with auditees regularly.
• Reviews the audit results with any other assigned staff and audit management.
• At the conclusion of each audit, presents audit findings to management by conducting exit conferences. Stresses the importance of improved internal control and compliance with Kindred policy and certain government regulations.
• Prepares clear, concise, and objective reports of findings and recommendations for management's consideration in deciding policy for present and future operation. Reviews the Audit Summaries and Executive Summaries for relevance, completeness, and effective communication.
• Meets with audit management and other auditors assigned to the project upon receipt and review of responses. Discuss Executive Summaries and audit ratings as appropriate.
• Assists the public accounting firm and the Independent Review Organization in performing their audits of the company as needed.
• Stays abreast of company policies and procedures by reviewing established policy manuals and policy revisions.
• Reads healthcare, insurance, accounting, and auditing publications to stay abreast of changes and to learn new techniques. Stays abreast of federal and state regulations to become aware of changes in third party payer reimbursement and to apply the changes to the audit scope/program.

In addition to my extensive experience, I have Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and related corporate governance initiatives, and knowledge of third-party payer reimbursement or healthcare industry preferred, Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as part of an audit team, or as an audit team leader, Ability to communicate directly with all levels of the organization, Ability to identify business risks and efficiency improvements, Demonstrated leadership, organization, and administrative skills, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Willing to work hours as needed to meet established deadlines, be proficient in the use of Word and Excel to prepare comprehensive audit reports, Experience with SAP and email applications, Affiliation with professional organizations: Institute of Internal Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Accountants, Hospital Financial Management Association. My broad background makes me an excellent candidate for Internal Auditor position.
