Fitness First is the largest global operator of fitness clubs with more than 1.5 million members in more than 500 clubs across 18 countries. As part of our exciting growth plans for Asia , we have the following opportunity for high caliber professionals to join our Club Management Team in Asia.
Fitness First Asia invites exceptional young leaders to launch their career aspirations to be our Club General managers through our Club General Manager Fast Track Scholarship Programme, a leadership training and career development programme, cumulating with the position within 6 months.
This is the second programme that we are conducting, having completed the first Club General Manager Fast Track Scholarship Programme in November 2007; graduating and placing 16 successful participants at our Clubs throughout Asia.
ABOUT THE ROLE OF A CLUB GENERAL MANAGER
The purpose of the programme is to recruit and train the BEST young leaders, to prepare them for key managerial positions, specifically in the Clubs General managers within Fitness First Asia.
Summarily, the aims are to provide opportunity for young, robust, dynamic and ambitious individuals to develop a balance of functional leadership excellence, sales leadership skills, managerial skills and a sharp commercial perspective, which will enable them to be employed as Fitness First Club General Managers, fully equipped to deal with the numerous challenges demanded of the position.
Our Club General managers “hold the keys” to our US$2-3 million Clubs and are fully accountable for a team of 30 to 50 staff to ensure that our members are satisfied each and every day.
THE STRATEGY
The trainees will undergo an intensive one month’s training at our Regional Training Centre in Malaysia and/or in our Asian territories and then, a further 6 months of structured industrial internship training, education, placement and career development with us, based at our Clubs in Asia.
The challenges for the trainees are to develop mastery in selected functions-first roll will be sales, and for us to prepare them to assume important roles in our business world within a condensed period of time, and to consistently perform to world-class standards.
Each Club General manager has four direct reports; namely in membership sales, customer services, fitness management and administration. They are responsible for a target based monthly performance for the entire profit and loss account of each Club.
Club General Manager trainees will receive the best opportunities and support that Fitness First Asia has to offer, to help them maximize their leadership potential.
Salary compensation shall be provided during training and upon successful completion of their programme, trainees will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package and an opportunity to be on fast career progression within Fitness First Asia.
Requirements:
Eligibility
Top performing individuals between 30-45 years of age
Academic Credentials
1.A recognized Degree in related or relevant qualifications
2.A good pre-university academic record
3.Excellent spoken and written English is essential
Extra-Curricular Credentials
1.Experience and active involvement in extra-curricular, minimum of two (2) activities
2.A proven track-record in handling challenging and competitive responsibilities with the ability to balance various demands simultaneously
Personality
1.A self-confident individual with a balanced and pleasant disposition
2.A robust individual, who does not give up in the face of adversity. They must always maintain a positive outlook in life, be able to work productively and be an inspiration to others
3.Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, in English as well as their language
4.Preferably an active individual with a healthy lifestyle
