QA Engineer

Description:
Our client seeks a skilled, responsible, and adaptable senior level QA Engineer for black box and white box testing. You must have experience in creating test plans and test cases from functional specifications or just from studying a system. You must have experience interviewing engineers as your source for developing test cases and design.

Responsibilities include designing, executing, and maintaining test plans and test cases. You should be able to work with minimal supervision to research, plan, and execute tasks. You will collaborate with engineers, product /project managers, and professional services to understand the technologies, features, and boundaries of the products. You should have a good understanding of the product release cycle and a good understanding of QA methodologies and terminologies, as well as an understanding of the software development life cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Write test plans and test protocols
* Design and implement test environment, test data set, and test automation.
* Maintain and update existing test plans and protocols.
* Coordinate, develop and execute test cases.
* Install, configure, and test components of the company's product suite.
* Identify and report defects (providing reproducible steps) and manage defect reports.
* Work closely with Development and Product/Project Management to prioritize defects, assist in the timely resolution of defects, and verify defect fixes.
* Work directly with engineers and project management to obtain product information.
* Work with engineers to define the scope and coverage of the test effort.
* Create and maintain test data sets using internally-developed tools.
* Create and maintain test program or scripts necessary to execute tests.
* Work with professional services to ensure quality of product customization.
* Review technical documentation (user manuals, release notes, readmes) to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
* Communicate QA project status and escalate blocking issues to management.
* Provide feedback for improving QA procedures, standards, and methodologies.
* Collaborate with a remote team in Salt Lake City, UT.
* Define test automation processes and automate tests.

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years experience as a QA Engineer in a commercial software development environment.
* Extensive experience with manual testing, test data creation, and test automation.
* Experience in scheduling and leading projects, sizing projects and estimating costs.
* Significant background in deployment and debugging of 3-tier web applications.
* Experience with defect tracking systems and source version control applications.
* Experience with scripting automated tasks in UNIX and Windows environments.
* Ability to comprehend entity relationship model for a RDBMS. Must be capable of writing SQL to extract or insert data.
* Experience testing software within different deployment environments (Solaris, Linux, and Windows 2000/XP/Vista).
* Experience with web servers and testing web applications.
* Experience with designing and coding test programs to test Web services.
* Ability to program automation tasks using shell and/or Perl scripts.
* Experience testing new software products with limited product documentation.
* Experience with several complete product development cycles.
